About this place
The strikingly named Pandora’s Box seafood platter is an obvious place to start at Shokuetsudo. One takeaway customer recalled being amazed by the lavish assortment, which included karasumi (salted and dried mullet roe), and also enjoyed a generous serving of sea urchin and a sea urchin and toro platter. Another diner praised the freshness of the plentiful sashimi. It is a tempting choice for seafood lovers or a group looking for a dish to share.
Beyond seafood, the menu gives izakaya favourites a little extra character. Kasu udon, a noodle soup whose broth draws on abura-kasu (fried beef offcuts), is presented as a satisfying way to round off a meal. One diner said it stood out even compared with specialist shops. The signature doteyaki, beef tendon simmered in a miso-based sauce, is listed as a dish cooked every morning and has also caught diners’ attention. For a few small plates, try the spicy, moreish assortment of cucumber, bean sprouts and daikon called Yami-tsuki 3 Kyodai-mori.
Shokuetsudo is a sit-down izakaya in Showacho, Abeno Ward, Osaka. One diner enjoyed sake and sashimi at the counter alone; others have booked a semi-private room upstairs for gatherings with friends. Whether you are sharing a centrepiece dish or meeting a group, there is plenty to choose from, from seafood to noodles to finish.
